Workforce supply has become an increasingly important consideration when assessing the viability of a new development or business venture.
More than some sectors, this has always been front of mind for the medical and health industry. In certain instances, the location of new facilities can be heavily influenced by the knowledge that a specialised workforce lives in close proximity to the proposed development. Understanding this supply and demand equation can assist in attracting key workers. The ability to minimise travel time to a place of employment provides a strong incentive to change work location.
Through the use of ABS Destination Zones (DZNs) and some geospatial mapping capabilities, critical insights can be derived to help inform such locational analysis. DZNs are co-designed with state and territory transport authorities for the analysis of Place of Work Census of Population and Housing data, commuting patterns and the development of transport policy.
